And when you are back, everything under control

In December we wrote about the need to leave every detail under control in the article ‘If you are going on holiday, make it a real break‘. Now we turn to coming back to the office.

Time away indirectly means that, on your return, you have to review what has been going on. To do that while making the most of your time, Slot’s Eyes offers several options.

The warehouse management grid

The ‘Warehouse Management’ module lets users browse previous days so that, at a glance, we can see the status of each operation, as shown on this screen:

We can also export the information in two formats: PDF and XLS. This makes it much easier to prepare reports on actual activity and even to combine them with other internal information to improve internal management and analyse any incidents.

The warehouse management grid has been redesigned to allow other types of view as well. It is particularly useful when you come back because new operations may well have been scheduled for your first day back and for the days that follow. In Slot’s Eyes we have added the option to adapt how planned activity is displayed in two different ways:

1. The full view of the whole day, with colour coding:

With this view we change the layout of the docks so we can see, from left to right, what is happening at each one. All on a single screen and keeping the information that the colour codes provide. This way we can check the specific status of each operation and dock within the day and start handling any incidents far enough in advance to keep their impact to a minimum.

2. The full summary view:

This view summarises in columns the specific information about the bookings scheduled for the day in chronological order (from first thing to last). It gives us another way of presenting the complete information so we can see a summary of the day’s activity with real-time updates, and remove completed operations. One-off reports

If there is one thing that matters today for running an organisation well, it is having plenty of reports. In fact, the first version of Slot’s Eyes already introduced a module for recurring reports.

In the first few days after coming back it is vital to be able to analyse what has happened, so there is a record of incidents and so contingency plans can be drawn up for the future. Slot’s Eyes lets you configure a general report for a specific period of time. In other words: we can assess all the activity of every warehouse and carrier by selecting the dates we want it for.

This one-off report also allows other options:

  • Analyse a specific carrier or warehouse.
  • Choose the type of report depending on whether we want to assess questionnaire answers, timekeeping or the type of operation.
  • Send the report to our own email address and also to other people who may find it useful.
  • Choose the language the report is sent in.

All in all, it is far simpler and quicker to keep up with what is happening; to report to management; to prepare contingency plans based on the incidents detected; and, in short, to commit to continuous improvement across the organisation.
